Side Panels
The side panels of the Stacker had their grilled windows removed and the paint removed to expose the bare metal underneath.
More Styrene was added to the surround to square off the window, then more 1/8” styrene plastic rods spaced 5/8” apart were cut to shape and placed in line with the roof to keep a uniform look to the eye.
It would have looked out of place if the two had been mismatched, so the sides were placed back on and the two were lined up.
Later, another piece of styrene plastic was cut to the match the shape of the engine bays (next page) and these were then glued to the sides. The holes in the side matched the hollow engine bays and were used as vents to provide an authentic hot air exhaust, although, hopefully without the flames.
More greebles were added to the exposed panels to continue the attention to detail, and everything was then primed to seal it together and prepare it for further work later.
